News 2025 / ALPI Sottsass Pink / Design Ettore Sottsass
ALPI Sottsass Pink is the result of an aesthetic pursuit involving one of the company's most historically relevant collaborations. Based on handwritten notes by Ettore Sottsass that are preserved in the company archive, the ALPI research and development department has created a new colour variant for his design. His original colour proposals included two Pantone swatches in pink and pale blue. These formed the suggestion behind ALPI Sottsass Pink, which maintains the iconic grain that distinguishes the ALPI Sottsass veneer. The characteristic pattern, an emblem of dialogue between nature and human artifice, is made by reproducing wood's natural texture on an oversized scale, resulting in fanciful markings unfindable in nature. The new chromatic variant features a pink ground contrasted by a light blue grain, in line with the unusual colour combinations found in the designer's work.
The ALPIlignum Collection is available with IMO-MED certification, the European Union directive for the safety of maritime products. ALPIlignum is FSC® 100% certified (FSC-C004666), thanks to full control of the supply chain. In addition, it is classified as flame-resistant Bs1d0, meaning safety and conformity to design requirements.
